St Paul’s, Portland Square, Bristol
St. Paul’s Church in Portland Square, Bristol is listed Grade 1 and has not been used for worship since 1988. The church has more recently been vested in the Churches Conservation Trust with a view to its being restored.
The Trust has commissioned Prometheus to research potential new uses for the church and work with the most suitable potential user or set of users develop a business plan which will underpin funding applications for the restoration of the church. A potential user was identified in Circomedia, a nationally known circus school. This was last year described by the Chair of the HLF as ’the most exciting re-use of a church she had ever heard of’.
A project business plan was produced supporting a successful £2 million HLF award, with the structural works now nearing completion.
